Welcome!

Welcome to 'The Read Robin' - dedicated to reviewing literature both old and new. Reviewing from my read list.

Elegy Upon the Death of a Family Puss

Only a year since his ashes were spread,
As one moves on, another replaces:
Green eyes, silk coat, nine lives: now spent, she's -
Crept on. Left a sea of solemn faces.

The tears that fall leave the mourners rosy,
The mem'ries and a carpet of hair,
Surely, she can't be brought back through poesy?
But metered line sees her back in his chair.

I see you now, ah yes, sleek, Bengal form,
M'owing through winter, helping us to cope,
Preying past pots and stretched on the lawn,
It was life, again, restoring our hope.

Guardian angel, now peer over us,
Teach us again how to manage the pain,
Remind us how this season will pass,

Love release you; we will see you again.
